Control Units
C24.AERO
C24.AERO is a compact CANbus data logger (datalogger) for aerial work platforms and elevated access machinery. It records machine data in real time over two independent CAN buses; integrated I/O channels allow direct connection to sensors and warning outputs. Integrated with the Avioni ECU and HMI ecosystem, it provides a reliable black-box solution for field events, alarm history and CAN traffic.
Key Specifications
- 2 independent CANbus ports (CANopen / SAE J1939)
- Real-time CAN data logging (datalogger / black-box)
- Integrated input/output channels
- AERO series for aerial work platforms (MEWP)
- Compact C24 form factor
- Reliable data processing via dual-microcontroller architecture
- Over-current, over-voltage and reverse polarity protection

Technical Details
C24.AERO is a compact CANbus data logger in the AERO series of the Avioni C24 product family. Unlike the C24.XOUT programmable ECU, its primary role is recording machine data on the CAN network; integrated I/O channels also support sensor reading and output driving. It is designed for event logging, fault analysis and system diagnostics on aerial work platforms, bridge maintenance vehicles and compact elevated access equipment.
CANbus Data Logging
C24.AERO monitors and records CANopen and SAE J1939 traffic over two independent CANbus ports. Limit exceedances, fault codes, operator actions and machine status data during operation can be stored with date/time stamps. This black-box approach provides critical evidence for fault analysis, warranty workflows and retrospective review of safety events.
Integrated I/O
C24.AERO is not a passive bus logger only; integrated I/O channels allow field signal reading and limited output driving. Digital and analog I/O types supported by the Avioni ECU platform can be configured according to project needs. Platform-specific signals such as limit switches, pressure sensors and warning outputs can be managed from one compact unit.
Two-CAN Network Architecture
Two CAN buses allow HMI and field devices to be managed on separate segments, or one bus dedicated to logging/diagnostics and the other to control traffic. C24.AERO works as part of the Avioni platform control ecosystem together with C48.AERO, C72.AERO and AVD HMI displays.
Safety and Reliability
As in the Avioni ECU family, dual-microcontroller architecture supports data integrity and reliable I/O management. Over-current, over-voltage and reverse polarity protection are provided as standard. The unit is designed to EN ISO 13849-1 PL/d and verified for CE / EMC compliance.
Javelin Suite Integration
C24.AERO is configured and commissioned with Avioni Javelin Suite:
• Logging parameter and filter setup
• Reading and exporting recorded data
• I/O mapping and parameter configuration
• Live CAN data monitoring
• Firmware update and field configuration
UCAN-USB or UCAN-BT adapters provide workshop and field access.
Position in the C24 Family
C24.XOUT (8+8) is the compact programmable ECU. C24.BBX is focused on real-time CAN recording (black-box). C24.AERO (2× CAN + I/O) combines logging and I/O for AERO-series platform vehicles. When more control channels are required, C48.AERO (19+9) or C72.AERO (32+17) should be considered.
Typical Applications
• MEWP event and alarm logging (black-box)
• Platform vehicle CAN diagnostics and data collection
• Limit exceedance and operator action records
• Field fault analysis and warranty workflows
• Combined logging + I/O solution on compact platforms
