C24.N16

C24.N16 is a 16-channel input converter that brings field sensors onto the CAN network. It converts analog and digital inputs into CANopen or SAE J1939 messages for communication with master ECUs and HMIs. Compared to C24.N12, it aggregates more sensor points in a single module, reduces wiring complexity and suits distributed input architectures.

Key Specifications

  • 16 input channels, CANbus output
  • Analog and digital input types supported
  • CANopen and SAE J1939 communication
  • Distributed input module in multiplex systems
  • Compact C24 form factor
  • Sensor signal transmission over CAN
  • Compatible with Avioni ECU and HMI ecosystem
  • Configuration and calibration via Javelin Suite
  • CE and EMC compliant

Technical Details

C24.N16 is the 16-channel input converter module in the Avioni C24 product family. Unlike the C24.XOUT programmable ECU, it does not drive outputs; its role is to read field sensors and transmit that data to the master control unit over CAN. Mounted at sensor-dense locations on the machine, it avoids long analog cable runs.

Input Capabilities

C24.N16 can be configured with input types supported by the Avioni ECU platform. In addition to high/low-side digital inputs, sensor interfaces such as 0–5 V and 0–30 V analog voltage, 0–20 mA current, frequency/RPM, resistance, quadrature encoder and duty cycle measurement can be used according to project needs. Field elements such as limit switches, pressure transducers and temperature sensors are collected over 16 channels.

CANbus Communication

Read input values are published as CAN messages over CANopen or SAE J1939 protocols. Master ECUs such as C24.XOUT, C48, C72 and C121 and AVD HMI displays access this data on the same network. Operating as a slave/module, it bridges in-cab ECUs and field sensors in multiplex architectures.

System Integration

C24.N16 is the distributed input layer of the Avioni control ecosystem. Multiple C24.N16 modules on one machine can scale input capacity. C24.N12 is a more compact alternative when 12 channels are sufficient. Applications requiring output driving use C24.XOUT or higher-class ECUs.

Javelin Suite Integration

C24.N16 is configured and commissioned with Avioni Javelin Suite:

• Input type assignment and channel mapping
• Scaling, calibration and filter parameters
• CAN message ID and period settings
• Live input value monitoring and debugging
• Firmware update and field configuration

UCAN-USB or UCAN-BT adapters provide workshop and field access.

Position in the C24 Family

C24.N12 (12 inputs to CAN) is the compact input converter. C24.N16 (16 inputs to CAN) offers the same function with higher channel count. C24.XOUT (8+8) is the programmable control ECU. C48.N16.MUX (16+16) is a balanced I/O MUX module for applications needing both input aggregation and output driving. C24.N16 suits distributed architectures focused on input collection only.

Typical Applications

• Dense limit switch aggregation on boom and chassis
• Remote pressure, temperature and analog sensor reading
• Distributed input node in multiplex systems
• Reducing analog cable length
• Sensor integration in prototype and series production
• Modular input expansion alongside a master ECU
