Technical Details

JAV22 is the dual-axis hand joystick solution in the Avioni operator control family. Unlike the compact fingertip JAV12, it offers comfortable hand-grip operation for applications requiring two-axis (X/Y) proportional control — boom raise/lower and turret slew, simultaneous dual-function drive, or cross-axis motion control.

Dual-Axis Proportional Control

JAV22 provides independent proportional position sensing on X and Y axes. Lever deflection on each axis allows gradual adjustment of parameters such as hydraulic proportional valve opening, motor speed or function intensity. Controlling two motion axes from a single joystick saves panel space and improves ergonomics.

Hall Effect Sensing

Both axes use contactless Hall effect sensor technology. Magnetic sensing instead of mechanical potentiometers or wear-prone contacts delivers long service life and repeatable output. Stable performance is maintained under vibration, dust and heavy use, extending maintenance intervals.

Mechanical Durability and Ergonomics

JAV22 has a robust mechanical design for use in mobile machine cabs and heavy-duty operator consoles. The hand-grip layout supports operator comfort during extended operation. Spring return-to-center on both axes ensures safe return to neutral. It is designed to withstand high operator force and demanding duty cycles.

Output and Communication Options

JAV22 can be configured for analog voltage output or digital CANbus communication (CANopen) according to project requirements. Analog versions connect to Avioni ECU analog input channels. CANopen versions integrate into CAN-based multiplex architectures with ECUs, HMIs and other network nodes; joystick position data and optional button signals are transmitted over the bus.

System Integration

JAV22 is an operator interface component in the Avioni control ecosystem. It is used with C24, C48 and higher-series ECUs, Avioni HMI displays and CANopen-based machine architectures. During commissioning, axis mapping, deadband setup, function assignment and functional tests can be performed over the CAN network via Javelin Suite and UCAN adapters.

Comparison with JAV12

The compact fingertip JAV12 suits tight panels and single-axis or space-limited applications. JAV22 is preferred where dual-axis hand control, higher operator force and ergonomic hand grip are required. Together, the two products form a complete operator control portfolio for different panel and console needs.

Typical Applications

• Boom and slew control on mobile cranes
• Multi-function control on excavators and construction machinery
• Operator armrests on aerial platforms and telehandlers
• Consoles on fire trucks and special-purpose vehicles
• Remote control and armrest panels

JAV22 is a critical interface component in Avioni’s mobile machine electronics portfolio, providing reliable and precise transmission of control commands from operator to machine.
